What does Medicare cover under Part A. Compare Health Insurance would like to briefly summarize what is covered.
A. Inpatient hospital care for up to 90 days for each benefit period plus 60 lifetime reserve days in a general hopsital. Also, it covers up to 190 lifetime days in a Medicare certified speciality psychiatric hospital. You can visit Medicare.gov for further information.
B. Skilled nursing faciltity care for up to 100 days for each benefit period. In order to qualify you must have been in the hospital for at least 3 consecutive days in the previous 30 days prior to admission and need skilled nursing services seven days a a week, physical, occupational or speech therapy services five days a week.
C. Home health care for up to 100 days. You must have been in the hospital for at last 3 days in the previous 14 days before you received care and be homebound. You can get coverage for home health care without a hospital stay through Medicare Part B and through a Medigap or Medicare supplement plan.
D. Hospice Care is available in a doctor certifies that you are terminally ill and have a life expectancy of 6 months or less to qualify.
