In approximately July of 2014 a consumer friendly phone presentation will be available for individuals, families and even small businesses. This phone option will clarify many different questions that consumers have regarding health insurance reform starting in January of 2014 including the ability to enroll in a health insurance exchange beginning in October of this year.
We believe consumers will appreciate the simplicity in how the information is presented over the phone in a streamlined manner touching on the questions every consumer has regarding health insurance. Here is an idea of what will be discussed in 5 minute segments.
For a single individual looking for information on his or her choices would be presented will the following options.
1. To pay a tax/penalty and how much these penalties will be for an individual. Would paying a tax give you health insurance coverage. Would an individual be able to sign up for coverage at a later date without pre-existing conditions. Any back penalties or waiting periods to obtain a policy. Can you get coverage outside of the exchange and are these plans different. How does the subsidy process work. Can the government collect the penalty if you choose not to purchase insurance.
2. If a family is involved then answers would be given regarding penalties and what constitutes a family policy. Can individuals within a family split up coverage. How are the rates calculated if the ages of spouses are different and does geography play a factor in the rates.
All of these questions are important are will be dealt with in a forthright manner so the consumer can make a well informed decision based on their self interests. Every question will be answered and over time the presentation will include the common questions asked by the public. Our job is not to make a decision for a consumer but to provide all the information on all sides of the insurance equation.
The answers will be given in a easy to understand manner but will still give the consumer the option to speak to a live representative for further clarification. Our office will shop the coverage if requested or calculate the particular subsidy amounts to lessen any confusion or misunderstanding of monthly premiums. The phone option will give the buyer pertinent information on the options and rates and how to proceed with any choice in the marketplace. Think of this as talking to an insurance representative who directly gives you all the facts.
We expect consumers to love this option and to make the entire process much simpler. Our agency will also provide a small business presentation for self employed individuals which will include subsidy information and the choices of just pursuing individual coverage and any consequences.
